The Second Beach Open Water Swim is one of the premier events included in the Vancouver Triathlon race weekend.

The event offers 3 distances, 750m, 1.5km and 3km.

EVENT LOCATION

Stanley Park – Ceperley Field (next to 2nd Beach Pool)

Stanley Park is located on the traditional territory of Coast Salish First Nations, including the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil Waututh.

PARKING

Ample parking is available around Second Beach.
Note:  Pay Parking is in effect.

Snacks & Drawprizes

Wetsuits are not mandatory for this race event, but for safety reasons you must let us know at check-in if you plan to change from wetsuit to non-wetsuit, or vice versa. If you fail to inform us of a change of wetsuit category, you will be disqualified.

THE SWIM 

– COURSE MAP

The swim will be held in English Bay on the shore of Second Beach. The expected water temperature is 17degrees Celcius and air temp 21degrees (current water temperature is 19 degrees). Wetsuits are suggested and the provided swim caps must be worn. Lifeguards on paddleboards, and volunteers in motorboats and canoes/kayaks will patrol the swim course.

Courses will consist of four(4) 750m laps for the 3km swim, two(2) for the 1500m or one for the 750m. 
All waves will start with a beach run. Distances with laps will have to exit the water to start their next lap (we love to chear for you!)

TIDE LEVELS

We will be swimming with the tide going out.
High tide (13.1 ft) will be at 5:10am.  Low tide at 12:11pm (3.0 ft).
